taylor swift is neither sexist nor homophobic and i’m sick of people bringing up a couple of lines within songs written years ago.

there are literally two lines people talk about:

  • she wears short skirts i wear t-shirts, she’s cheer captain and i’m on the bleachers

it’s not about that other girl being a slut (short skirts do not make anyone a slut????), it’s about that other girl rather cathing the attention of guys

  • so go and tell your friends that i’m obsessive and crazy that’s fine i’ll tell mine you’re gay

it does not mean that it would be a bad thing if he was gay. the song is about her wanting to take revenge on an ex by going out with all of his best friends. he wants to prevent that, hence tells his friends reasons why they should not date her. she also wants to prevent him getting other dates so she would tell her friends he was gay, simply so girls would not even think about asking him out. that’s it.

Most people don’t get being a real Taylor Swift fan. Some people think it’s a phase you’re going through. Some people think you’re obsessed with her. These people couldn’t be more wrong though. Being a real Taylor Swift fan is more than just a phase of obsession. To real Taylor Swift fans, she’s the best you never had. The older sister you never had. No, you can’t just call her up for advice about a guy. You can’t just call her up when no one else will listen to anything you have to say and it feels like everyone hates you and you’re completely alone in this world. But that’s okay. Her songs are how she gives us advice. Her songs are how she makes us feel like we’re not so alone in this world. We’re not the only ones going through something because she’s gone through it too. And sometimes, that’s so much better than talking because sometimes you just don’t want to talk. You just want to know that you’re not the only person that’s been on the outside looking in. And you’re not the only person that’s felt like they couldn’t breathe without someone but they know that they’re somehow going to have to figure out how to. And you’re not the only one that believes things could change for the better one day. You’re not the only one that’s had to accept the fact that someone isn’t sorry for anything they’ve done. You’re not crazy for believing in fairytales and love stories. You’re not the only person in the world that isn’t out partying on Friday night because Taylor isn’t either. You’re not alone and you know that because of Taylor Swift. Real fans don’t see this huge superstar that they’re obsessed with. They see Taylor, the woman that they know will always be there for them when no one else is.
